Many of our clients know exactly what they want. They come to us with a specific style or design, they have the measurements down to the centimeter, and they know the wood species they want and the finish that they would like us to achieve. Their ideas come from all kinds of different places. Some find pictures in a magazine or on the internet. Others take characteristics of various pieces they have seen and then put it together into one single item. And a select few actually sketch out every detail on paper or in a digital program.
However, other clients have a general idea of what they are looking for and they rely on our design team to help them find something that works.
Whatever direction you are coming from, our team at Cache River Mill & MetalWorks can design and build exactly what you want. Our craftsmen have extensive wood and metal working experience that gives us a competitive edge when it comes to custom work. If you can dream it, the odds are that someone on our team has probably had some experience with designing or building it before!
Working with our team at Cache River Mill is easy. We begin the design process by building a rough example of what you are looking for in a software program. This render will be built to the required specifications that you provide. This allows us to give you a rough idea of what the finished product will look like. At this stage, we can fine tune the product to achieve the exact style that you are looking for. We will also discuss the various options of wood species, finishes, lighting and anything else that you wish to make it your own.
Once we get the basics worked out, we will then get more specific with our render. Below is an example of the grain pattern and the inlay design of the above pictured dining room table. During this step, we really start to get into the details of the design. For instance, in this particular example, we are finalizing the grain direction, the inlay pattern and the visibility of the inlay on the top of the table.
The software we use allows us to show you almost any type of color and finish you can imagine. And, if your custom piece has moving doors or drawers, we can show you how each one opens to ensure proper movement and fit. In fact, the program is so powerful, we can show you specific details, including placement of accessories such as wine glasses, lamps and monitors.
Once you are completely satisfied with the render, we move on to the actual construction of your project. As we move through the different steps of building your custom piece, we will keep you updated through pictures and descriptions via email.
Building anything custom is what we love to do, and we really enjoy documenting the construction of everything we produce.
In many cases, we will present you with samples of various finishes so that you can confirm the overall look of your custom piece, and ensure that it matches your style. Sometimes finishes can look completely different on a digital screen than they do in the real world, so we like to present you with samples that are finished on the actual wood species of your project. This way, you know exactly what you are going to get.
